Westernpips Private 7 — Forex News Trading Software Guide

Updated 8 min readBy the Westernpips Research Team

Westernpips Private 7 is a multi-terminal trading platform built for high-frequency and latency-arbitrage trading across Forex, CFDs, metals, indices, futures and crypto. For news traders, it watches fast quote feeds, detects the price impulse in the first ticks after a release, and executes through FIX/API, MetaTrader EA connectors or a web clicker.

This guide is educational first. You will see how Private 7 handles news, which features matter, how a setup typically proceeds, who the platform suits, what it costs, and which risks remain no matter how fast your software is.

Every automated news trading system, from a simple EA to a multi-terminal, runs some version of this pipeline. Speed is lost or won at each stage.

What is Westernpips Private 7?

Westernpips Private 7 is a Windows-based, VPS-optimized trading platform designed for HFT and latency-arbitrage strategies. It connects to fast data feeds and execution venues through direct TCP, FIX API and other APIs, supporting Forex, CFDs, metals, indices, futures and crypto. It targets retail-pro traders, prop desks and institutions.

Private 7 is multi-terminal, meaning one installation can watch several price sources and several execution accounts at once. Its core idea is comparison: a fast feed shows where the market is now, and a slower venue may still be showing where the market was a moment ago.

That gap is the opportunity latency-arbitrage strategies try to capture. News releases make such gaps larger and more frequent, because prices reprice sharply in milliseconds and slower quote streams take time to catch up.

How does Westernpips Private 7 handle news trading?

Westernpips Private 7 handles news trading by monitoring fast quote sources in real time, detecting the price impulse in the first ticks after a release, and executing before a slower broker quote catches up. The News Trading Scheduler controls when it trades or pauses around events, and the Back Tester replays past releases for testing.

News moves prices first on the fastest feeds. Private 7 does not try to interpret whether a number beat the forecast. Instead it reacts to what the market does, which removes the need to parse data and avoids human reaction time of roughly 200–300 milliseconds.

Fast feeds

The platform ships with 10 built-in WP Fast Sources. It also supports ITCH market data, cTrader FIX, and WPFeed Linux providers as quote sources.

Execution paths

Once a gap passes your threshold, the order goes out through the fastest route your venue supports: FIX/API connectors, the cTrader connector, an EA connector inside a MetaTrader 4/5 broker terminal, or the clicker for web platforms without an API. The MT4 and MT5 news trading guide explains how EA connectors fit into MetaTrader.

Scheduling around news

The News Trading Scheduler lets you trade only during selected events, or pause and disable trading around them. That second mode matters if your broker or prop firm restricts trading near releases.

Which features of Private 7 matter for news traders?

The Private 7 features that matter most for news traders are fast quote feeds, multiple execution connectors, the News Trading Scheduler, configurable algorithms with exit rules, risk controls such as spread limits and a ticks-per-second filter, and a Back Tester that models execution delay, slippage and commission on recorded ticks.

How the clicker works

The WebClick and Universal Clicker tools let Private 7 trade MT4/MT5 web terminals and other one-click web platforms. A Windows agent runs Chromium on your VPS, compares fast quotes with the web platform price, and clicks when the gap exceeds the GapForOpen threshold.

Positions close by GapForClose, a timer (CloseAfterSec), a reverse signal, take profit or stop loss. With the Universal Clicker, you calibrate up to three click points each for Buy, Sell and Close, plus a wait time between clicks. Order history logs slippage in pips, open time in milliseconds, entry and exit gaps, and profit. The news clicker guide covers click latency in more depth.

How do you set up Westernpips Private 7 for news trading?

Setting up Westernpips Private 7 for news trading follows a fixed sequence: rent a fast VPS near your broker, install the platform, connect fast feeds, connect your broker or web terminal, configure the News Trading Scheduler, backtest on recorded ticks, run a demo, and only then trade live with small size.

  1. Choose a VPS. Pick a fast Windows VPS close to your broker, ideally in LD4, NY4 or TY3. The Westernpips VPS guide explains the selection criteria.
  2. Install Private 7. Installation on your VPS is free with the licence.
  3. Connect fast feeds. Enable WP Fast Sources or another supported provider.
  4. Connect execution. Link your broker via FIX/API, cTrader, an MT4/MT5 EA connector, or the clicker for web platforms.
  5. Configure the scheduler. Choose which releases to trade and when to pause.
  6. Set risk controls. Define spread limits, drawdown control, ticks-per-second filter and exit rules.
  7. Backtest. Replay recorded ticks of past releases with realistic delay, slippage and commission.
  8. Run on demo. Confirm fills, slippage and open times in the order history.
  9. Go live small. Increase size only after live logs match your tests.

Who is Westernpips Private 7 for, and who is it not for?

Westernpips Private 7 suits experienced traders, prop desks and institutions who understand latency arbitrage, can run a VPS, and will test thoroughly before trading. It is not for beginners seeking a guaranteed income, traders unwilling to read broker agreements, or anyone who expects software to remove spread, slippage and execution risk.

Good fit if you: - Already trade the news and understand spreads, slippage and requotes. - Can manage a Windows VPS and monitor logs. - Want to test strategies on recorded ticks before committing capital. - Have confirmed that your broker or prop firm permits your intended strategy.

Poor fit if you: - Have never traded a live release and want automation to learn for you. - Trade with a broker that bans latency arbitrage or short-duration news trades. - Expect fixed returns or a "set and forget" robot.

If you are still building your foundations, start with what news trading is and the news trading risks guide.

What risks remain when using Private 7 for news trading?

The risks that remain when using Private 7 for news trading include slippage, spread widening, requotes, broker execution delays, and broker or prop firm rules that restrict latency arbitrage or news scalping. Faster detection reduces one source of risk, but no software guarantees results, so testing on backtests and demo accounts is essential.

Speed helps you see the move earlier. It does not control what your broker does with the order. During a release, the venue may widen spreads, slow execution or reject orders, and those outcomes appear in your logs as slippage or longer open times.

Agreement risk is just as real. Some brokers prohibit strategies that exploit delayed quotes, and some prop firms ban trades opened within minutes of high-impact events. Breaking those terms can lead to cancelled trades or closed accounts. Read the rules first, and use the scheduler to pause trading where required.

Frequently asked questions

Does Westernpips Private 7 read economic news numbers?

No. Private 7 does not parse actual-versus-forecast values or headlines. It reacts to price data from fast feeds, detecting the impulse in the first ticks after a release and executing before slower quotes catch up.

Can Private 7 trade MetaTrader accounts?

Yes. It connects to MT4 and MT5 broker terminals through EA connectors, and it can trade MT4/MT5 web terminals through WebClick or the Universal Clicker. Execution still depends on the broker's server and rules.

Is a VPS required for Private 7?

The platform runs on Windows and is VPS-optimized, and a fast VPS close to the broker is recommended. Data centers such as LD4, NY4 and TY3 are typical choices, and installation on your VPS is free.

How is the WebClick clicker licensed?

WebClick is included for Private 7 owners who pay for WP Fast Sources, otherwise it costs $150 per month. Each WebClick session is bound to one VPS or PC, so plan one licence per machine that runs the clicker.

Is Private 7 suitable for prop firm accounts?

It depends entirely on the firm's rules. Some prop firms restrict latency arbitrage or trades around high-impact news. Check the current terms and, if needed, use the News Trading Scheduler to pause trading around restricted events.

Does Private 7 guarantee profits on news releases?

No. Results are never guaranteed. Slippage, spread widening and broker behavior affect every trade, which is why backtesting with realistic delay and slippage, followed by demo testing, should come before live trading.
